A central vacuum system's actual cost is determined by three factors:
- The square footage and layout of your home~ This will give you an idea of the number of inlets needed for coverage as well as the amount of pipe and fittings used in installation.
- Choice of model~ Location of the vacuum and the manner in which the pipe is run can almost determine your model based on the manufacturer's recommendation. You may choose from 17 different models which are effective from 15 to 15,000 sq ft.
- Choice of accessory kit~ The type of floor coverings helps to determine this. Turbine or electric kits are available.
Choosing the right type of central vacuum is most important. We recommend cyclonic vacuums over any type of filtered vacuum. This is a personal preference based on 25 years of experience installing and servicing central vacuums. Any vacuum using a paper bag, foam or cartridge filter, or inverted bag is a filtered vacuum. All are restrictions to the airflow and all decrease the suction power. Old style vacuums had paper or dump out cloth bags. Then came bagless vacuums with foam or cartridge filters. All of these decrease in power with each use and exhaust dust and allergens right back into the room.
Filtered central vacuums are the same thing but on a larger scale. Full bags and clogged filters make motors run hotter and decrease motor life. Some filtered central vacuums exhaust outside. This helps with the recirculated dust, but you still have to buy, clean, or replace bags and filters. And there is no avoiding the decrease in suction power. Cyclonic central vacuums eliminate the need to hassle with bags and filters. With Vacumaid's cyclonic split canister power units, maintenance is as easy as cleaning the lint screen on your dryer.
